孟庆旸:用舞蹈诠释中国气韵

3月25日,在亚洲青年领袖论坛开幕式上,国家一级演员、中国东方演艺集团舞蹈演员孟庆旸发表主旨演讲。


全文如下:

大家好!我是孟庆旸,一名舞者,一名文化传播者,来自中国。为什么我要强调我“来自中国”?这也是我从业多年来的一个思考,所以今天想把这个思考分享给大家。

作为一名国有院团的文艺工作者,站在舞台上有11年的舞者生涯,演绎过一些关于中国优秀传统文化的作品。直到2021年,遇到舞蹈诗剧《只此青绿》。这部作品是从学习和研究《千里江山图》开始的,《千里江山图》取景于庐山和鄱阳湖,是中国青绿山水画的巅峰之作,十大传世名画之一,来自北宋的天才少年画家希孟。

在这部剧当中,我饰演的角色是“青绿”。准确的来说,它其实不是一个人物。她与众不同,是一个“物化”的形象,也许是《千里江山图》的画魂所在,也许也是《千里江山图》的一种颜色的气魄,也许代表着我们中华优秀传统文化的一种发现、传承和沉淀。

曾经有人做过这样的一个实验,在关掉音乐以后,在看不清人脸的昏暗的舞台氛围中,舞者在舞台上起舞,很多观众是分不清楚这位舞者来自于哪个国家。这让我开始思考,到底什么是中国式的艺术视觉?什么是属于中国式的中国的传统文化?即“何以中国”?大家或许听过一个词,叫做“气韵”,这是一种非常“中国式”的表达,也是传统中国画的灵魂,“气韵生动”是中国画追求的最高境界。那么,如何表达“气韵生动”?又如何运用肢体动作去表达《千里江山图》中抽象的“写意”气质呢?

于是我开始思考,“气韵”到底是什么?在中国画中,气韵是多种元素的综合体现,比如:画家的人格特点、思想境界、艺术修养,还有技法上的笔墨运用、色彩表现,甚至还包括画作所处时代的自然环境、社会背景、审美取向,所有这些元素都会赋予每一幅画作各自不同独特的“气韵”。这个词背后隐含了中华文化中“天人合一”的宇宙观,以及“与自然万物共存”的世界观和哲学思想,这便根植于我们心中的中国传统文化。而这种深邃的审美基因,一直流淌在我们的血液当中。当然,它也是我们中国舞者的根与魂。

《千里江山图》是画家希孟在18岁时就完成的作品,画作描绘了自然景色的壮美,画作本身与画作所呈现的中华文化传统意境交相辉映。隐隐呈现的,是天才少年希孟对祖国秀丽山川的深厚情感。他用灌注了深情的画作,把中国山水画中最生动的“气韵”,延续了千年,仿佛当时年轻的他,从未离开。而这种深情,既是“青绿”所要表达的中国“气韵”,更是一种属于全人类胸怀苍生万物的普世情感和人文胸怀。

当我意识到这一点,再欣赏这幅画作的时候,仿佛就能看到希孟对祖国大好山河的深情赞美,也被这位18岁少年的热烈情感深深吸引。透过画家的双眼,我看到了一座小山变幻成险峻的峰峦,千年时光交错,我终于找到了角色的共通点。

对美的感知,以及通过感知美所带来的情绪,是不同国家所有人类的共性,也是人与机器的重要区别。舞蹈是一种非常精妙的艺术形式,它传达的是一种深层的精神意境,它不需要通过有声的语言,仅仅伴随着音乐和肢体就能令观赏者产生强烈的情感共鸣和精神上的同频共振。

我们这一时代的文艺工作者是处在一个非常幸运的时代,全球越来越频繁的文化交流让我们有机会走到世界各国做交流访问,欣赏了许多不同国家的艺术风格,领略了不同文化背景下的舞蹈特点。我很庆幸我的身份是一名舞者,可以用我的舞蹈向全世界传达我的祖国——中国的传统文化。也许舞者生涯是有限的,但舞蹈作为一种艺术“语言”,所能承载的美好记忆和情感却是无限的。而我相信,在世界各个角落,每个国家都会有属于自己独特的传统舞蹈、传统文化。

所以在这里,我希望全世界的舞者们和艺术家们都能用你们的形体、属于你们独特的艺术风格去更多地表现各自国家最优秀的文化瑰宝。各美其美,美美与共。世界因多元而丰富,艺术因理解而欣赏,人类因和谐而共生。千里江山,不只青绿,让我们创作出更多具有我们中国文化的艺术作品呈现在全世界的舞台上。谢谢大家!

Meng Qingyang shares experience of interpreting the Chinese “aura” with dance

On 25 March, Meng Qingyang, a national first level artist and dance artist of China Oriental Performing Arts Group, delivered a keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum. Following is the full text of the speech.

Distinguished guests,

Dear young friends from around the world,

Greetings to you all. I am Meng Qingyang. I am a dancer and a culture promoter. I come from China. Why do I emphasize “from China”? This is a thinking from my many years in this line of work. Today I want to share this thinking with you.

As an art worker in a state-owned troupe, I have spent 11 years on the stage and performed a few dances about fine traditional Chinese culture. In 2021, I encountered the poetic dance “A Panorama of Mountains and Rivers”. This work began with the study of the painting “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains”. The painting was set in Mount Lu and Poyang Lake. It is the pinnacle of the blue-green realm of Chinese landscape painting and one of China’s top ten world-renowned paintings. It was created in the Northern Song Dynasty by the young genius, Wang Ximeng.

In this poetic dance, my character is Qinglyu (blue and green). To be precise, this is not a specific person. She is very different: she is a “materialized” image. She may be the soul of the painting, the spirit of a certain color in the painting, or the discovery, inheritance, and consolidation of our fine traditional Chinese culture.

There once was such an experiment. On a dim stage where you could not make out faces, a dancer was dancing. Many of the audience could not tell which country the dancer was from. This got me into thinking. What are Chinese artistic visuals? What is unique to traditional Chinese culture? That is, what is Chinese? You may have heard the word “qiyun” (aura). It is a very “Chinese” expression and the soul of a traditional Chinese painting. A “vivid aura” is the highest pursuit of Chinese paintings. So, how to express this vivid aura? How to express the abstract “freehand” temperament in the painting with body moves?

So, I began to think. What exactly is aura? In Chinese painting, an aura is a comprehensive embodiment of a variety of elements, such as the painter’s personality, state of mind, artistic capability; techniques such as the use of brush and ink and color expression; and even the natural environment, social background, and aesthetics of the era in which the painting is created. All these elements combined will give a painting its unique aura. This word implies the Chinese view of the universe as “heaven and humanity in one”, as well as the worldview and philosophical idea of “coexistence with all natural beings”. This is the traditional Chinese culture rooted in our hearts. This profound aesthetic gene is carved into our DNA. Of course, it is also the root and soul of us Chinese dancers.

“A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” was created by Wang Ximeng when he was 18 years old. The painting depicts the magnificence of the natural scenery. The painting itself and the traditional conceptions of Chinese culture presented in the painting complement each other. Vaguely presented are this genius teenager’s deep feelings for the beautiful mountains and rivers of his motherland. This affectionately created painting extends the most vivid aura of Chinese landscape paintings for nearly a thousand years, as if the young genius had never left. This affection is not only the Chinese aura that “Qinglyu” wants to express, but also an all-encompassing universal sentiment and mindset that belongs to humanity.

When I came to this realization and observed this painting again, I could see the painter’s affectionate praise for the great mountains and rivers of the country. I was also deeply touched by the intense emotions of this 18-year-old. Through the eyes of Wang Ximeng, I saw the transformation of a small hill into a steep peak. Amid the interpolations of a thousand years of time, I finally understand this character.

The perception of beauty – and the emotions that come with it – is common to all human beings and a major difference between human and machine. Dance is a very exquisite art form. It conveys a deep spiritual artistic conception. It does not need speeches. The combination of music and body moves is enough to inspire in viewers a strong resonance emotionally, as well as spiritually.

Our generation of arts and culture workers are living in a very fortunate era. The increasingly frequent cultural exchanges in the world have given us the opportunity to visit countries around the globe, observe the artistic styles of many different countries, and appreciate the characteristics of dance art in different cultural backgrounds. I am very happy that I am a dancer. I can use my dance to showcase to the world the traditional culture of my motherland, China. Perhaps a dancer’s career has a time limit, but, for such an artistic language as dance, the good memories and emotions it can carry are infinite. I believe that in every corner of the world, each country has its own unique traditional dance and traditional culture.

So, here, I hope that dancers and artists all over the world can use your moves and your unique artistic styles to express the best cultural treasures of your countries. The perceptions of beauty are different, and different perceptions can coexist. The world is enriched by diversity. Art is appreciated through understanding, and humans coexist through harmony. This panorama of mountains and rivers is more than blue and green, so let us create more artworks that deliver our Chinese cultures to be presented to the whole world.
