3月26日，在亚洲青年领袖论坛闭幕式上，亚洲青年领袖联合会主席、亚洲青年领袖论坛秘书长刘海江发表了讲话。

尊敬的各位领导、各位嘉宾、各国青年朋友们：
大家好！我是刘海江，亚洲青年领袖联合会主席、亚洲青年领袖论坛秘书长。
美好的时光，感觉总是过得很快。两天的时间飞逝而过，这两天内，亚洲青年领袖论坛在广州南沙成功举办，亚洲31个国家的近400名青年朋友们在科技、金融、健康、环保以及共同促进亚洲的和平与发展等方面进行了充分交流。我相信，这是很多朋友之间一段美好友谊的开始。
中国有句古语，叫“志合者，不以山海为远”。 意思是说如果志趣相投，人们不会因为有山海阻隔而感到彼此距离的遥远。中国古代也有一位哲人，他说：“有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎。”意思是说如果有好朋友远道而来相聚，是让人很快乐的事。
在人类文明的发展过程中，速度很重要，但方向更为重要。自工业革命以来，乃至未来几百年，人类的科技在以越来越快的速度发展。此时，更需要人类把握住自身文明的发展方向。
只有坚守人文内核，人类才不会在高速的科技发展中迷失自我。我们应该团结起来发展民生；共同减少贫富差距；保护地球环境；减少对不可再生资源的消耗；将国家利益竞争控制在良性的底线之内。这是所有国家和人类的共同任务，也正是当代青年的必要担当。
当前，世界之变、时代之变、历史之变正在以前所未有的方式展开，人类社会面临着新的挑战，世界又一次站在历史的十字路口，何去何从取决于全世界各国人民的抉择，也更取决于全世界青年的抉择。
当今的人类命运共同体，比以往任何时候都需要青年肩负起责任和担当，才能让人类文明之光沿着正确的方向前行。坚持科技创新，增加人类财富的总量，缓解矛盾，共同发展。通过各种方式的沟通和交流，增进彼此的认知，减少误解，建立合作。这正是当代青年需要承担的历史使命，也是亚洲青年领袖论坛举办的初心。我们希望这个初心能够一年一年地传下去，一代一代地传下去。
明天，我们大家将前往南沙湿地公园，一起种植“亚洲青年友谊林”。我们会种植中国南方的乡土树木“榕树”，以表达对亚洲各国融合发展的期盼。我们也会种植“凤凰木”，希望南沙这片沃土、这个“立足湾区、协同港澳、面向世界”的未来之城能够“有凤来仪”，吸引各国青年朋友们来此投资兴业、来此合作发展、来此共创未来。
让我们团结起来，一起努力，让这片友谊之林长青，让亚洲各国青年的友谊长存，共商、共建、共享，共同建设一个美好的亚洲。

Liu Haijiang urges to steer human civilization in the right direction
On 26 March, Liu Haijiang, chairperson of the Asia Youth Leaders Association and secretary general of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum, delivered his remarks at the Closing Ceremony of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum. Following is the full text of the speech.

Distinguished guests,
Dear young friends,
Good afternoon. I am Liu Haijiang, chairperson of the Asia Youth Leaders Association and secretary general of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum.
Good times always pass fast. Two days has flown by since the opening of the forum in Nansha, Guangzhou. Around 400 young people from 31 Asian countries discussed science, technology, finance, health care, environmental protection, and joint promotion of peace and development in Asia in depth. I believe this is the start of a beautiful friendship between many of you.
There is an ancient Chinese saying that goes, “Even mountains and seas cannot distance people of like mind.” It means people will not feel distant from each other due to the barriers of mountains and seas if they share the same aspirations. There was also a philosopher in ancient China, who said, “What a delight to have friends coming from afar.” It means it is something to be celebrated if close friends from afar come to meet with you.
In the development of the human civilization, speed is important, but direction is even more so. Since the Industrial Revolution – and even into centuries to come – our sciences and technologies have been developing at an increasingly rapid rate. Now it is all the more necessary for us to steer the direction of our civilization.
Only by sticking to humanity’s core values will we not lose track in the torrent of technological development. We should join forces to improve living standards, reduce the wealth gap, protect the environment, cut down consumption of non-renewable resources, and limit international competitions within a healthy range. This is a task for all countries and peoples, as well as a bounden duty for the youth of today.
Right now, changes of the world, the times, and history are unfolding in ways like never before. Humanity is faced with new challenges. The world is once again at the crossroads of history. The choice lies in all the people of the world, and, more importantly, in all the young people of the world.
Today’s human community with a shared future calls on youth more than ever to take their responsibilities, so that the human civilization can move in the right direction. We should encourage scientific and technological innovation, build up the total wealth of the human society, alleviate conflicts, and achieve shared development. We should resort to various means to engage in interactions, improve mutual understanding, reduce misunderstandings, and form partnerships. This is the historic mission bestowed upon this young generation and the original aspiration of convening the Asia Youth Leaders Forum. We hope that this aspiration can be passed down year after year, generation after generation.
Tomorrow we will go to Nansha Wetland Park to plant the Asia Youth Friendship Forest. We will plant the local trees of southern China, banyan trees, in expectation of the integrated development of Asia. We will also plant flamboyant trees, In the hope that this fertile land of Nansha, this city of the future that opens up to the world through advancing the Greater Bay Area and in collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao, will be a flamboyant land for talents, attracting young people around the world to invest and start businesses, seek cooperation and development, and build a better future here.
Dear young fiends,
Let us join hands and work together to make this friendship forest as evergreen as the friendship between Asian youth. In the spirit of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, let us create a great Asia together. Thank you. See you again at the next forum in Nansha, Guangzhou.
